The six elements of high pressure cleaning

Pressurized water is an efficient solution for cleaning dirt and deposits. High pressure is water forced through a nozzle, to increase the water pressure and thus the cleaning effect.

A high-pressure cleaner can basically be described as an advanced water gun. A high-pressure cleaner is well-suited for cleaning vehicles, machinery, and both outdoor and indoor areas. The cleaner works by spraying the water out in a strong jet, which loosens and cleans the dirt deposit.

The cleaning effect of a high-pressure cleaner is determined by the composition of six different parameters:

1. Pressure
2. Water flow
3. Temperature
4. Unit type
5. Cleaning agents
6. Choize of nozzle

1. Pressure

There are two types of pressure: low pressure and high pressure. Traditionally, high pressure cleaners operate at a pressure in the range of 50-250 bar. Increased pressure increases the ability to loosen the deposit. This means that cleaning tasks with resistant dirt require a higher pressure of your cleaner. Higher pressures also contribute to faster cleaning.

2. Water flow

A high-pressure cleaner typically uses a water flow corresponding to 10-42 L/min., which is just 10-30% of the consumption in a traditional garden hose. High pressure is therefore water-saving, relative to the higher cleaning effect you will achieve. With a higher water flow, the cleaning effect also increases, making it possible to clean a larger area in the same time. In addition, a high water flow provides a good rinsing effect, so the dirt is quickly removed from the cleaning area. Water flow, like pressure, is a crucial parameter for efficient cleaning. With an optimal water flow, the cleaning task is easier to perform.

3. Temperature

At higher temperatures, the cleaning ability generally increases due to better solubility. The temperature to be used depends on the cleaning task at hand.

There are several different solutions for achieving the right temperature that your cleaning tasks require. Read more about hot water cleaners and cold water cleaners to get insight into which type of high-pressure cleaner is best suited for your cleaning tasks.

4. Unit type

A cleaner unit can be either mobile or stationary. Choosing between a mobile and stationary solution depends on the cleanings tasks you will need to perform. Stationary cleaning units are used where regular cleaning is performed at a fixed location. An advantage of a stationary unit is that it reduces the amount of hoses and cables. With stationary unit, it is possible to combine several pumps, whereby the system can be used by multiple users simultaneously. It is also possible to design a customized solution, to fit your specific needs. Mobile units are typically used where the cleaning tasks vary, or higher flexibility is needed. A mobile solution is well-suited if you have cleaning tasks on the road, or if you need to be able to move your cleaner around a larger area.

5. Cleaning agents

Cleaning agents is also an essential element in achieving high cleaning effect. The more effective the cleaner agents, the better the cleaning. However, you should only use cleaning agents when needed, to protect the surrounding environment.

6. Choice of nozzle

It is important to use the right accessories for your high-pressure cleaner to achieve the best cleaning effect. An important choice is to find the right nozzle for your high-pressure cleaner, as a wrong nozzle will reduce the water flow and can result in unnecessary stoppages or recirculation.
