Leaks in a compressed air system increase a company's electricity costs
Compressed air as an energy source for various production processes often accounts for a significant portion of a company's electricity consumption. If there are leaks in a compressed air system, it is therefore important to detect and repair them so that the system does not consume unnecessary energy and to maintain efficient and reliable production.
Leak screening with market-leading equipment
At Reno, we are experts in compressed air, and we use the market's most effective ultrasonic scanning equipment with acoustic cameras for leak detection, enabling us to quickly and efficiently identify and document for the customer whether there are air leaks in the system and, if so, exactly where and how much.
It pays to find and repair leaks
Most leaks can be repaired by the company's own maintenance team, and it pays to find them, as even small holes can cause a significant loss of efficiency.

It´s about finding the leakages that the company itself cannot see or hear
‘We find the leakages in companies' compressed air systems that they themselves cannot see or hear,’ says Renos' consultant Søren Bay. ‘With our modern detection equipment, which allows us to listen to the frequency while the system is in operation, we can hear even the smallest hole from a distance of 20 metres. Even though the company regularly inspects the system, we almost always find that there are several leaks that have not been detected.’
"In general, we see that 25% of the output from a typical compressed air installation that has not already been tested constitutes what we call poor compressed air. This means that there is overproduction, typically due to incorrect regulation of the compressed air or leaks in the system. In other words, the compressed air system consumes 25% more energy than necessary."
The screening is completed faster than you might think
‘With our efficient measuring equipment, the scan is done faster than you might think, so the relatively few hours we spend testing an entire production unit or a larger factory are well spent compared to letting air leak out of the system.’"
Typically, 75% of leaks are located in and around pipe joints and fittings. Even small leaks in the installation's hose fittings can result in an annual air loss equivalent to significant additional costs. Repairing a pipe joint or replacing a fitting is something that the company can do on their own cheaply and quickly, so it does not pay to leave it undone. If we find a leak in a machine, we also lend out simple equipment that enables the company to pinpoint and repair the damage itself when the system is not in operation."
Report enables the company to repair the leaks on their own
"After the screening survey, we prepare a report that makes it easy for the company to repair the leaks as part of their own maintenance. As the survey is carried out using an acoustic camera, we are able not only to locate the leak using ultrasound and take a picture of the problem area, but also in the same work process to document exactly where and how many litres of air are being lost. This gives the customer an optimal basis for prioritising and planning repairs."
‘We always strive to be honest and good sparring partners for our customers,’ concludes Søren Bay.
